The expanded leadership group includes the promotion of Jessica Romer to Director of Product, the addition of Chris Pawluczyk as Director of Operations, and the appointment of Meghan Mulligan as Controller. Together with Director of Sales & Marketing Joe Eenigenburg, this four‑person Director team represents a critical leadership layer supporting Applewood Seed’s operational excellence, product innovation, and financial stewardship.

Jessica Romer Promoted to Director of Product

Jessica Romer, Director of Product
With deep knowledge of horticulture and the seed industry, Jessica Romer has been a trusted resource and inspiring presence on Applewood Seed’s account management team since 2021. Her promotion to Director of Product reflects the company’s commitment to quality, innovation, research, the future of its seed offerings.
In her new role, Jessica leads product strategy, development, guiding innovation, trial and quality improvement programs, bringing together customer insights, production capabilities, and Applewood Seed’s long-term vision. Her passion, insight, and collaborative leadership style make her ideally suited to guide the company’s product direction into the future.
Applewood Seed President Mary Gomane noted that the promotion marks an important evolution within the organization. “The creation of an independent product department signals a renewed focus and a new chapter in the research and development of our seed,” said Gomane. “Jessica’s extensive horticultural experience and collaborative approach make her the ideal leader as we continue to expand.”
Jessica holds a BA in Anthropology from the University of Colorado Boulder and professional certificates in Horticulture and Landscape Design from Front Range Community College. Currently, she also serves as President of the Home Garden Seed Association, where she has been an active board member for several years.
Chris Pawluczyk Appointed Director of Operations

Chris Pawluczyk, Director of Operations
Chris Pawluczyk has been appointed Director of Operations, bringing extensive experience in large‑scale operations, process improvement, and team leadership. With more than seven years in fast‑paced, high‑volume warehouse and supply‑chain environments, Chris is known for his practical leadership style, strong analytical skills, and commitment to operational excellence.
As Director of Operations, Chris oversees operations across the organization, working cross‑functionally to streamline internal processes and strengthen communication with Applewood Seed’s partners and customers. His focus on scalable systems and efficiency supports the company’s continued growth while maintaining high standards of quality and service.
Executive Chairman Norm Poppe praised Chris’s early impact during a demanding season. “In Chris, Applewood Seed gains a well‑rounded and nimble leader who is ready to meet the challenges of our growing organization,” said Poppe. “His ability to lead both on the floor and at a strategic level brings exactly the balance we need.”
Chris holds a BS in Business Management from the University of Pittsburgh, with a double major in Supply Chain Management and Business Information Systems.
Meghan Mulligan Joins as Controller

Meghan Mulligan has joined as Controller at Applewood Seed, bringing five years of experience in tax and wealth management along with a strong foundation in accounting and financial stewardship. A seasoned accountant, Meghan previously worked at Plante Moran, advising high‑net‑worth individuals and complex entities across a variety of industries.
As Controller, Meghan oversees Applewood Seed’s financial operations, reporting, and compliance, working closely with leadership to ensure transparency, accuracy, and alignment with the company’s strategic goals. Her efficient and careful guidance is already contributing to the long‑term financial health of Applewood Seed, benefiting both employee‑owners and customers.
CEO Ryan Guilford highlighted the importance of the role as the company continues to grow. “As our team and our business expand, it’s more important than ever to operate transparently and cost‑effectively,” Guilford said. “Meghan’s expertise, tact, and warmth have made her an invaluable partner in our success.”
Meghan holds a Master of Accounting from the University of Kansas School of Business and a BS in Business Administration with majors in Accounting and Marketing from Drake University. She has also completed international studies at Charles University in Prague.
