Partridge Pea

Partridge Pea is a native annual of the central and eastern U.S. It is a common component of wildlife and conservation mixtures – the pods are eaten by song birds and game birds, and plants provide cover for wildlife. The yellow blooms attract many types of pollinators, and it is a host for several sulphur butterfly species. Plants have petiolar nectaries that attract sweat bees, wasps, flies and ants. It is also a legume that adds nitrogen to the soil. Prefers lean and drier soils.
