Sunflower ‘Tall Sungold’

‘Tall Sungold’ sunflower, also known as Tall Teddy Bear, produces fluffy, golden-yellow, 8-10 inch blooms on stately 5-6 foot tall plants perfect for beds and borders. The unique flowers mature to feathery pillows that are crowd-pleasers for adults and children alike. The flowers have no outer petals and are composed entirely of shaggy disk flowers giving it a very distinctive appearance. This sunflower is multi-branching with strong stems making charming cut flowers. Like other sunflowers it is reliably easy to grow and provides pollen and nectar for a large variety of pollinators while in bloom. Once flowers are spent, the seedheads can be left for seed-eating birds such as goldfinches, cardinals, chickadees and jays.

Sunflower ‘Carousel’

Sunflower ‘Carousel’ is a dwarf sunflower with a compact, multi-branching habit. The 3-4 foot plants are completely covered in leaves and flowers, with very little lower stem showing. The single flowers are 4-6 inches wide and are a lemon yellow color. Flowers are attractive to pollinators. Recommended for beds and borders.

‘Evening Sun’ Sunflower towers from 7-8 feet tall with 5-8 inch flowers in warm, velvety hues. The stunning blooms come in rich brown, maroon, dark gold, and bicolor shades with inner yellow rings reminiscent of the setting sun around their dark centers. The bicolor flowers are a beautiful crimson tipped with cream, and russet browns surrounded by gold. Sunflower ‘Moonshine’

‘Moonshine’ Sunflower blooms with glowing, pale yellow petals surrounding dark centers. The pale color shines both day and night atop robust plants growing 6-8 feet tall. This light lemon color has become increasingly popular and contrasts beautifully with other vibrant flowers in the garden landscape. ‘Moonshine’ was bred as a cut flower, with sturdy stems and a base-branching habit that provide large, abundant flowers and full vases all summer long. Sunflower ‘Ice Cream’

Sunflower ‘Ice Cream’ is a different species than our other sunflowers. It is a cultivar of Helianthus debilis, which is native to coastal areas of the Southeastern and Mid-Atlantic states. It is perennial in warmer climates but can be grown as an annual in cold climates. The unique, cream-colored flowers have chocolate centers that are surrounded by golden yellow halos. Recommended for the home garden as well as mass plantings. It attracts large numbers of native bees and butterflies, and birds will eat the seeds. Plants are drought and salt tolerant and make a good stabilizer for sandy soils.

Sunflower ‘Mongolian Giant’

Sunflower ‘Mongolian Giant’ (aka Helianthus annuus uniflorus) is notable for its massive flower heads and huge seeds. Plants produce a single, golden flower on each stem that are 16-18 inches across, and plants grow 12-14 feet tall. The seeds are great for roasting and eating. Makes an interesting focal point in beds and borders.

Sunflower ‘Midnight Rouge’ is prized for its rich burgundy petals and deep brown centers. It produces flowers that are about 3-6 inches across on plants that grow 4 to 6 feet tall. Sunflowers are easy-to-grow additions to the home garden and are recommended for the back of the border. Makes a great cut flower but will drop pollen as this is not a pollenless variety.
