Switchgrass ‘Dacotah’
(Panicum virgatum)
Switchgrass ‘Dacotah’ is a rhizomatous, warm-season bunchgrass that is native throughout most of the U.S. It is a major component of the Tallgrass Prairie ecosystem. Dacotah originates from north-central North Dakota. It is early maturing and has shorter stature and finer leaves than southern varieties. It works best planted in upland sites. Use for pasture mixes, range seeding, erosion control and biofuel production. It also provides good nesting habitat, cover and food for many different types of wildlife.
