Morning Glory ‘Scarlet O’Hara’
(Ipomoea nil)
Morning Glory ‘Scarlet O’Hara’ is a twining vine that has deep purple-scarlet flowers with a white throat. It is a tender perennial with large, funnel shaped flowers and heart-shaped leaves. Flowers open in the morning and last only one day. Plants bloom mid-summer to early fall. They can be planted on trellises, arbors, lattice or chain-link fences or used as a ground cover. Plants do best in full sun with moderate moisture and well-drained soils. ‘Scarlet O’Hara’ was an All America Selections winner in 1939.
