Firewise Seed Mixture

While no plants are fireproof, certain species are more firewise. Higher moisture content, lower oil or resin content, low-growing and compact growth habits, and drought tolerance all reduce a plant’s flammability. Planting lower flammability species to create a defensible space around homes and structures is one way to slow the spread of wildfire. This mix contains these such species, both annuals and perennials, that are suitable for firewise plantings in the western United States.
