Columbine, Blue

Blue Columbine is the state flower of Colorado. It is found throughout the Rocky Mountains, typically in aspen and spruce-fir communities, or subalpine meadows. it is also commonly referred to as Rocky Mountain Columbine. Sometimes, pure white flowers are seen. The blue petals have distinctive, long spurs. Columbine can be grown in sunny locations in cool climates, but filtered shade should be provided in hot climates.
