Blanketflower, Red Dome
(Gaillardia pinnatifida)
Red Dome Blanketflower (Gaillardia pinnatifida) is a charming native wildflower from the arid south-central to southwestern U.S. The flowers stand out with deeply lobed golden petals surrounding wine-red, dome-shaped centers bobbing above finely divided foliage. It is found in desert and semi-desert areas, grows from 12-18 inches tall, and blooms through the summer. It easily establishes from seed with sparse irrigation, making it ideal for native wildflower, xeriscape, and conservation mixes. Tolerates heat and drought and attracts a variety of pollinators.
