Bells of Ireland
(Moluccella laevis)
Bells of Ireland is grown for its green, bell-shaped calyxes. This old-fashioned garden annual is useful as a fresh or dried flower. Flowers are fragrant, but inconspicuous and white. Plants grow best in full sun but tolerate some shade and poor soils if very well-drained. Does not grow well in hot, humid climates and is grown as a winter annual in the desert. Reseeds readily.
