Although originally from Africa, this drought-tolerant annual is widely naturalized in the United States. The plant can bloom in about 55 days from time of seeding and produced 2-inch wide, orange, salmon and white flowers. They make excellent cut flowers but will close at night in the garden or bouquet. This type of seed comes from the disk flowers at the center of the flower head.
